EDU 760: Adult Learning Theory

In your current professional role, do you find yourself in settings such as workshops, classrooms, or within the area of training and development where you’re required to transfer knowledge to other adults?  If so, our Adult Learning Theory course can help professionals like yourself put together materials and training programs that actually engage and transfer knowledge to your intended audience.

Course Overview (3 Graduate Credits):

Participants in this course will learn different theories of adult learning in order to deepen your understanding of how to teach adults. The goal of this course is to familiarize participants with current research and its practical applications for use in settings such as workshops, classrooms, and within the area of training and development.  

Students will develop strategies to address issues faced by educators of adults, helping them be more effective and responsive to the needs of the learners they serve.

Admissions Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-5 years of professional experience preferred

There is no workplace or classroom requirement for this course, but students will be required to demonstrate a related example of the theory in practice from their working environment or relay how they would incorporate the theory into their practice.
